The all new 2007 R 1200 R will be in our showroom soon. We thought you might enjoy a little introduction to the latest model to receive the new Boxer engine - the roadster.

Crystal Chassis

The engine placed in the R 1200 R provides 109 bhp, with maximum torque of 85 ft/lb as in the RT. In the transmission, the helical gearing of the R 1200 R has also been adopted from the R 1200 RT, which affords softer engagement and much smoother running.

Like most models in the Boxer range, with the exception of the R 1200 S, the R 1200 R has a two-part frame design with a partially self-supporting engine. The front frame section is identical to that of the R 1200 GS or RT, the rear tubular space frame was designed specially for the R 1200 R for low weight and a light appearance at the back.

The R 1200 R is available with the all new BMW Motorrad Integral ABS and Automatic Stability Control. Please see our Focus on Technology section for technical information about this new option.

The ergonomic design of the seat on the R 1200 R is optimized to suit the length of the leg arch. The narrow seat saddle section at the front affords exceptional floor reach and a more relaxed knee angle than provided by the R 1150 R.

Wunderlich Watches

Wunderlich has created a series of dynamic watches in the style of the current Boxer and "K" instruments. The outstanding features of the watches include technical exclusivity, meticulous detail and extraordinary mechanization. The decentralized second hand is driven by its own movement that together with the minute/hour hands, forms a symbiotic “time instrument”.

Boxer II

Wunderlich used the typographies of the Boxer and "K" instruments as inspiration and adopted the typical style elements of the gauges. The snappy, ergonomic execution provides the wearer exceptional comfort, even beneath snug fitting leathers. The three versions of the Wunderlich watches set a new standard of aesthetics and reflects our passion for design, perfection and technical advancement.

Versions available: Stainless Steel Boxer Watch II, Titanium S-Boxer Watch and Titanium K-Power Watch. Each version comes with a matching wristband and back. More details about all three versions can be found in the Accessories Section of the 2006 Wunderlich catalog and the Boxer II is available for purchase from our Online Store in the fan items section.

Motorcyclist Magazine honors BMW models again

The R 1200 GS Adventure and the R 1200 RT have garnered Motorcyclist magazine's top honors in the Adventure Bike and Touring categories respectively - for the second year running. This latest "Best" rating joins the consistent praise the revolutionary model has received since it's introduction in 2004.

The R 1200 RT combines amazing agility with outstanding luxury to retain its top spot in Motorcyclist's Touring category. No matter what road, the R 1200 RT has something to make it more enjoyable, from an electrically adjustable windscreen for the open road to GPS navigation to help discover the roads less traveled.
