Legend of the Motorcycle: International Concours D’Elegance

BMW Motorrad USA is sponsoring the very prestigious Legend of the Motorcycle event in Half Moon Bay, CA on May 3, 2008.

Legend of the Motorcycle: International Concours D’Elegance is the first world-class concours d’elegance exclusively for motorcycles. A century of motorcycling history is showcased with over 200 of the finest pre-1978 motorcycles and special displays of contemporary custom racing and concept bikes.

This annual charitable event celebrates and honors the past and future of motorcycling on a luxurious level previously associated only with fine automobiles.

The Concours takes place on the ocean-side lawns of the Ritz Carlton in majestic Half Moon Bay, California just 20 miles south of San Francisco. It includes entries, judges, sponsors, participants and attendees from around the globe.

BMW Motorrad USA is very pleased to sponsor the Third Annual occasion of this most prestigious motorcycling event in the world.

For BMW fans there will be a large selection of vintage and historic BMW motorcycles, as well as significant racing bikes, including the new HP2 Sport which achieved an amazing Top 5 finish in its historic debut in this year’s two-hundred miles of the AMA Daytona 200 event.

BMW will be showing two unique machines, presented together for the very first time. These two bikes are the world's first BMW F800 AMA Flat Trackers hand constructed by two builders with distinctive personalities. The first is a gorgeous super lightweight, old-school bike, using carburetors with a unique trellis frame made by the legendary builder and team manager Ron Wood of Costa Mesa, CA. The other is constructed by famed Northern California fuel injection guru and flat track veteran Dale Lineaweaver. Dale's bike maintains BMW F800's original twin spar aluminum frame and computer-controlled FI system to deliver a potent flat track bike.

The event will feature a special photo exhibition from Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's "Long Way Down" ride through Africa which will be aired as a six-part series on Fox Reality Channel later this summer.
