Not content to produce just another luxury tourer, BMW has created an entirely new motorcycle concept for the luxury touring class: The K1200LT. The LT exhibits a combination of comfort, reliability and performance that you could only expect from BMW. Elegant, powerful and nimble, The K1200 LT is the ultimate luxury touring machine whether you're traveling across the county or the continent.

The K1200LT provides the rider with optimal comfort and convenience. Things are kept dry and stable with an electrically adjustable windshield and aerodynamic fairing. Heated handgrips, of course, are standard and the LT Custom includes the luxury of heated seats. All three LT models come standard with cruise control.

When you're on the road you need information. The LT Custom and Icon come standard with an on board computer that displays temperature, mileage, range and average speed at the touch of a button. All three models have am-fm cassette stereos and the Custom and Icon include a 6 CD changer.

Power on the LT is delivered by a liquid cooled inline four cylinder engine with 100bhp and 85lbs of torque on tap. Fuel delivery is handled with electronic fuel injection. The engine provides plenty of smooth, controllable power no matter what the situation. That power is delivered through a smooth shifting 5 speed gearbox. The LT is also the first BMW to have a reverse gear.

In the suspension department the LT relies upon BMW's patented Paralever rear and Telelever front suspension. The Telelever employs a single shock to manage damping. This keeps the ride smooth and controlled at any speed on even the worst roads. An additional benefit of the Telelever is the elimination of the brake dive that is inherent in other motorcycles.

Of course a touring motorcycle needs to have quality luggage. The K1200LT's integrated side cases and top case provide 120 liters of storage capacity while still maintaining a streamlined look. There is also a lockable glove case in front of the rider for small items. The LT custom also comes with a chrome luggage rack on the top case.
