A modern standard, the new R combines elegant good looks with mechanical prowess that will make any ride more enjoyable.
The new motor displaces 1130 cc's and has 5 more horsepower than the previous version. 85% of peak torque is available at only 3,000 rpm making this a machine that can be ridden quickly with minimal work from the rider. Need to pass? No need to downshift, just twist the throttle and let the torquey twin do it's work.
That motor is mated to a new 6 speed transmission ensuring that there's a proper gear for every scenario and enhancing highway fuel economy.
The new partially integral anti-lock braking system allows normal riders to brake like pros. Dynamically dividing the braking pressure between the front and rear wheel when the hand brake is used, the R is slowed down with much less effort than before. The system also weighs ten percent less than the old system.
A full line of BMW accessories is available for the RL including system cases and a luggage rack that replaces the rear seat.
