The R1150RT is powered by BMW's trademark four-valve, Boxer twin. It produces 95 bhp at 7,250 rpm and generates 74 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm. Stronger at all speeds than its predecessor, the improvement is most noticeable between 3,000 and 5,000 rpm - perfect for touring. The phrase "the more things change, the more they stay the same" definately does NOT describe the new R1150RT. Sure the R1150RT has changed but it has decidedly not remained the same.
A BMW, yes. A direct descendant of the legendary R1100RT, yes. The recognized leader of its class, yes. A magnificently capable long-distance tourer, yes. But from here all similarity with the past comes to a confident EVO/Integral ABS-assisted halt.

To counteract the added thrust, the new R1150RT gets BMW's powerful sport-bike-derived EVO braking system, featuring lightweight large-diameter front discs and staggered pistons. It teams with the new Integral ABS to give the RT a 20 percent boost in stopping power with half the required effort at the brake lever. It gives the RT anti-skid stopping power you can use under all weather conditions.
No frills. Just nice touches everywhere.
Like the electrically adjustable windshield. The adjustable clutch and brake handles. Almost two inches of adjustable seat height. The light switch for the foglamps. Or the illuminated display for the sound system - it tells you what mode it's in without having you take your eyes off the road.
