Headlights
Using a configuration similar to that of the R 1200 GS, the K 1200 R offers brilliant illumination through an optimally focused light cone.

Windscreen
Designed to be small and subtle so as not to detract from the overall design, the windscreen provides surprisingly effective wind and weather protection.

Large Info Flat Screen
Clear, easily visible indicators of distance, oil temp, remaining fuel, selected gear, remaining range, actual time and suspension setting with the optional Electric Suspension Adjustment.

Electronic Suspension Adjustment
The optional ESA system allows the rider to adjust for different road conditions and varying loads for a very individualized riding style. At the touch of a button, the rider is able to choose between three settings (Normal, Comfort, and Sport) for front and rear suspension as well as adjusting for suspension preload.

Front Suspension
The K 1200 R's outstanding handling is due to a Duolever suspension system that provides added agility and continuous brake dive compensation over entire length (4.5 inches) of suspension travel. Steering head angle and low frame connection contribute to its superb handling.

Rear Suspension
BMW's EVO brakes and Paralever rear suspension keep road forces to a minimum. A specially designed suspension strut attached to the read wheel allows improved responsiveness and keeps the rear end of the bike planted on the road at all times.

Brakes
The combination of 12.6 inch, twin-disc front and 10.3 inch, single disc rear braking system, with their close regulating intervals, gives the K 1200 R exceptionally short braking distances (something not usually found on most sport machines.) In combination with the optimal weight distribution provided by the overall design of the bike, the K 1200 R offers heightened safety with minimal manual effort. Partially integral ABS braking is available as an option.

Engine
Features the same gear ratios as the K 1200 S, offering accurate, light shift action via a maintenance-friendly design.

Seat
Two choices of seat height - the standard 32.3 inch or an optional 31.1 inch version. Every rider knows that the wider the seat, especially towards the front, the harder it is to reach the ground with your feet. This seat has been optimized in terms of step length: markedly slimmer towards the front, giving more freedom of movement for sports-style riding, while broad at the rear, for more comfort.
