Large Windshield
The large standard windshield provides excellent protection against wind and weather, with no air turbulence even at high speeds. The specially shaped additional flaps behind it help to minimize drafts of air in the kidney region. As on the R 1200 GS, the angle of the windshield can be adjusted.

Aluminum handlebar with hand protectors
The high-value tapered-section aluminum handlebar has a protective center sleeve. The hand protectors available as an optional extra for the R 1200 GS are standard equipment.

Adjustable dualseat with off-road ergonomics
To give the rider the necessary freedom of movement while riding in standing position, the Adventure has an adjustable dualseat. With the rider's seat in the upper position (910 mm) the complete seat has a level surface with no step between the two sections. If this degree of freedom of movement is not needed, the lower position (890 mm) can be chosen so that the rider's feet can reach the ground more easily. As on the R 1200 GS, the dualseat is narrow in shape at the front, which also helps the rider to place both feet on the ground and hold the bike up safely. As was the case with the R 1150 GS Adventure, the degree of comfort enjoyed by the pillion passenger has been to some extent sacrificed in favor of the level dualseat surface (less foam padding is used in the pillion area than for the two-level dualseat on the basic model).

Aluminum luggage system
The optional aluminum luggage system was developed for the advenutre rider. It consists of aluminum cases on stainless steel supports and a topcase with holder, which fits the stainless steel luggage rack that is standard equipment. Both the pannier cases and topcase are watertight, and waterproof inner bags are also available for both of them. Together, the two cases have a volume of 82 liters (left 38 l / right 44 l) and the topcase of 32 liters. The system is rated for a load weighing up to 25 kilograms and a maximum road speed of 180 km/h. Both the cases and the topcase have lashing lugs for additional items of luggage. The case lids have two locks. If only one is released, the other acts as a hinge so that the lid can be swung up. The lid can be detached completely if both locks are released. One-key operation is available, using the bike's ignition key.
