BMW HP2 Megamoto.
High Performance. Exclusively for the road.

The new HP2 Megamoto is the second model after the HP 2 Enduro in the High Performance line from BMW Motorrad. Unlike the HP2 Enduro, the HP2 Megamoto is designed exclusively for use on the road and is aimed directly at the pure road rider. With its uncompromising sporty-ness and forceful character, it perfectly embodies the idea of High Performance. Reduced to the essentials - namely maximum riding enjoyment - this high-quality, exclusive machine meets the highest of demands. The Megamoto will rank right at the top among all street-legal two-cylinder Supermotos thanks to supreme performance and the use of top-class materials.

Cycle World’s Bruno de Prato commented in their October magazine issue (after the HP2 Megamoto's victory at Colorado's Pikes Peak last summer):

"No matter you might call the Megamoto – a super moto, a naked or even a standard – it is a fantastic streetbike that delivers an experience that will never go out of fashion: The pleasure of basic, pure motorcycling on a light weight bike with big power, fabulous handling and great versatility...As far as I am concerned, it’s worth every penny."

The most important features of the new HP2 Megamoto at a glance:

Design:

Alongside pure performance, design also plays an important role in the supermoto segment. As with all sporty motorcycles, the machine's full potential must be perceptible from its appearance alone – in the case of the HP2 Megamoto, this claim is particularly accentuated by the requirements based on HP premises. The bike's lines, the use of appropriate materials and surfaces in the visible areas and the installation of high-tech components make it clear at first sight what this machine is: A no-compromise riding machine, light, powerful, aggressive, exclusive.

Engine:

With 8 hp more power than the HP2 Enduro, the Megamoto’s characterful boxer engine ensures maximum riding enjoyment on any type of country road. The main focus of development was spontaneous throttle response and provision of plenty of torque in the low and mid engine speed ranges.

Silencer:

Sound and performance are just two of the strengths of the Akrapovic rear muffler which has been specially developed for the HP2 Megamoto. The martial-look twin-pipe system has been designed for maximum torque without having a negative effect on the free-revving capabilities of the boxer power unit.

Front and rear wheel:

Rims and tires are designed for sporty use on the road. The sizes used, namely 120/70 ZR 17 at the front and 180/55 ZR 17 at the rear, mounted on 3.5 and 5.5-inch wide rims respectively, provide the optimum basis for ensuring that this bike’s exceptional performance is also delivered safely.

A second brake disc on the front wheel ensures deceleration performance is on par with the latest on-road sports models.

Suspension:

In contrast to the HP2 Enduro, the HP2 Megamoto is fitted with an Öhlins suspension strut specially adapted to on-road requirements. Limiting the rear suspension travel to 160 mm (6.3 inches) ensures consistently accurate rear-end feedback and the necessary stability in the high-speed range, even in lively fast cornering situations.

The upside-down fork, with its powerful 45 mm sliding tubes, also has a reduced suspension travel 160 mm (6.3 inches). Thanks to the restricted suspension travel, it has been possible to dispense with a travel-dependent damping function. However, the fork is fully adjustable for compression and rebound.

Body:

Tank, head, and lamp fairings are made partly from carbon and, in conjunction with the high quality paint, ensure the HP2 Megamoto has an exclusive, high quality look. The cockpit has been supplemented by a rev counter, and a new headlamp, with typical BMW asymmetrical styling, that ensures better illumination of the road.
