BMW Motorcycles BMW of Santa Cruz County

Vice President

My name is Marc Corker. I bought my first BMW when I was 15 years old. It was a 1978 R100RS, which Bill had taken in on trade. Since then I have owned many other bikes plus the three I currently own. They are a 2005 R1200GS, a 2001 R1150GS and a 2005 Ural Gear-Up. I have had a love for motorcycling as long as I can remember and I am very happy to say after more than 14 years in the industry I still enjoy this business and motorcycling as a sport.

I had been involved on and off with BMW Motorcycles since Bill opened the shop in 1985. Being my uncle, he gave me the opportunity to help on weekends and during summer vacations, mostly washing bikes at first then putting parts away and uncrating new bikes. I did have several years of actually servicing and repairing them too. I have been working full time at BMW of Santa Cruz since October 1992. In the beginning of my career I concentrated mostly on New and Used Motorcycle Sales as well as Parts Management. Those were the days when it was only Bill and I. When I think back to the early 1990's and look at our operation now, I am very proud of our accomplishments. We have seen exceptional growth and things have really changed for the better. I now am Vice President and now part owner of our corporation with Bill; that really means General Manager of both our BMW and Yamaha stores which keeps me very busy. I am very proud of our staff and I really enjoy hearing their ideas and interacting with their daily duties. Everyday I am happily surprised at all the positive energy and effort they put into helping our customers and making our store better.

I have several favorite rides and roads, one them of being the "Mt. Hamilton Ride". We take the back roads through south San Jose to Mount Hamilton, over to Patterson for lunch and back the same way we came. The view is unbeatable at the top and the road is extremely twisty! On a clear day, you can see from San Francisco to the Sierra Nevada from the Lick Observatory. Another truly great road is Highway 108 know as Sonora Pass. This road is part of our "Summer Solstice" shop ride every year. I still have a few motorcycling dream rides that I want to accomplish in the next few years. I really want to ride through Mexico and Central America down to Costa Rica. Alaska sounds pretty adventurous too; it's just a matter of time.

My Wife, Diana, deserves a lot of credit for my ability to perform my job well and I have two wonderful Daughters that keep us both very busy. Megan is my oldest and Melissa is her younger sister. As all parents know, it's simply amazing to watch them grow. Megan can always get a smile out of me when she wants to ride her "motorcycle" (a pedal trike, tricked out with YSC stickers) and can't find her keys or gloves. Diana is very patient with my long hours at work and very sympathetic to several of my "vices"; motorcycling, talking about motorcycling, planning motorcycle trips and she seems to be able to smile every time I bring home a new coin for my collection. Before our kids were born, Diana and I really enjoyed traveling the world and together we have been to several countries including Costa Rica, England, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Mexico as well as many US states. Two years ago I rode for two weeks in South Africa. Unfortunately, Diana missed that one. Luckily, we have a great condo in Cabo San Lucas that we enjoy visiting and it is very "Kid" friendly while still being VERY "Dad" friendly, all at the same time. The both of us feel that it is very important to see the world and experience other life styles and cultures. We have and will continue make sure our Daughters get some exposure at very young age.

Please let me know if I can assist you in anyway. I am always interested in your comments, hopefully they are positive but I am also very interested if they are negative so we can make the appropriate changes if needed.
